The Nova Natura series, the ethnic-based down-tempo chillout concoction, with artists primarily based in Greece, but also from Russia, Israel and even a few artists from good ol’ Australia. Nova Natura is a popular radio show that is broadcast around Greece, splaying out amazing, almost ambient, tracks, tunes and sound-scapes.

Listen to this while you read this, it is a track from Nova Natura 3, Milt - Exotica Grenadia. Once you listen to it you’ll know what I’m talkin’ ’bout.

I first heard Nova Natura 2 when it was released in October 2006, and fell in love it with the day I first listened to it in whole. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to find the original Nova Natura, but the other two albums more than make up for it.

Nova Natura, in it’s core essence, is a collection of - what could be considered - modern dub, with a combination of very slow, crisp-sounding percussion. Deep bass-lines, delicious ambient pads, memorable melodies from various instruments and on occasion, some stunning vocals to give the track a bit more flavour. Both albums have a ’spacey’ feel to them, through either the funky synths or the massive reverb that is applied to the most of the sounds.

The artists selection in the Nova Natura series is relatively unchanging throughout. There are a few core artists, such as Side Liner, D. Batistatos, Will O the Wisp, Zero Cult and Cydelix, but throughout these are scattered gems who are not as apparent, such as Kick Bong, Chronos and Milt, who make appearances in other Cosmicleaf productions - which are also 5-star worthy. Each of these artists has their own particular feel about them, their own unique sound.

After listening and loving NN2, I was afraid when I saw NN3 had been released. I wasn’t sure whether it would live up to it’s predecessor, but it became clear after a few listens, that it was of equal - if not better - quality than that of NN2.

In closing, these albums are the most badass chillout albums I’ve ever listened to, and I advice you get them as soon as humanly possible.
